Where We've Been - Our History
In August of 1982, the Forman family purchased Pick-Up Pals – a retail accessory store in a two-stall filling station at the corner of Broadway and Avenue Q in the heart of Lubbock, TX. Our humble beginning included Mr. Howell Forman, Jr., his son, Trip , and one additional employee. One year later, quick growth facilitated a move to 6810 Wayne Avenue, which remains our primary customer service location today. We soon became one of the largest wholesale and retail truck accessory stores in West Texas, and are pleased to continue to offer quality products and service at fair and reasonable prices.
By the early 1990s we were able to add to our offerings commercial work truck product lines by Knapheide and Weatherguard, thereby increasing our customer base and broadening our ability to serve the needs of West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. Howell Forman, Jr. remained actively involved in the business operations until his retirement in the late 1990s.
In 2005, Trip’s life-long dream of getting into manufacturing became a reality and Pick-Up Pals began building custom beds. We are humbled to have developed into one of the largest roustabout and related equipment manufacturers in West Texas. Our staff has now grown to more than 40 employees.

Pick-Up Pals is an active member of SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association), serving the motor vehicle aftermarket, and is an MVP Verified Member of the NTEA (National Truck Equipment Association), an organization for which Trip has had the privilege of serving six years on the Board of Trustees. We are proud to have employees who are certified ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) truck equipment technicians and make it a priority to exceed the required 30 hours of product and industry education each year to give you the assurance of excellent service you deserve. We have maintained the BBB rating of A+ Accredited Business since 10/1/1983..
